THE DEVELOPMENT OF THAI LANGUAGE TEXTBOOK FOR GRADE 7 INTELLECTUALLY IMPAIRED STUDENTS

Abstract

This research had the purposes to 1) develop Thai textbook for students with intellectual disability in Mattayom 1, 2) study Thai language ability of students who used Thai textbook for students with intellectual disability in Mattayom 1, and 3) study teacher's opinions towards the use of Thai textbook for students with intellectual disability in Mattayom 1. The participants for this research were a Thai language teacher, and 10 students with intellectual disabilities having IQ levels 50 - 70 in Mattayom 1 at Nakhonratchasima Punyanukul School. The research was conducted between September 2019 to March 2020. The statistics used for data analysis were mean, percentage, and analyzed in the form of descriptive analysis.

The results of the research showed that

1. It was found that the textbook was suitable at the level of 4.51 - 5.00, indicating that Thai textbook for students with intellectual disability developed by the researcher was suitable at the highest level at 93.40 percent.


2. Thai language ability of students who used Thai textbook for students with intellectual disability in Mattayom 1. There were the scores of Thai proficiency of all 10 students with intellectual disability in both before and after using Thai textbook. The mean of the pre-test scores was represented at 47 percent while the mean of post-test scores was represented at 93 percent.


3. The teacher's opinions towards the use of Thai textbook for students with intellectual disability in Mattayom 1 found that the teacher was satisfied with the use of textbook in teaching and learning management, mostly at the most satisfactory level.
