THE DEVELOPMENT OF ORAL READING AND ENGLISH VOCABULARY REMEMBERING FOR GRADE 7 STUDENTS USING BRAIN – BASED LEARNING MODEL WITH MNEMONIC TECHNIQUE

Abstract

The objectives of this research were 1) to develop English vocabulary oral reading using brain – based learning model with mnemonic technique. Student would have average score not less than 70% of total score, and there would be 70% up of the total number of the students passing criterion 2) to develop English vocabulary remembering using brain – based learning model with mnemonic technique. Student would have average score not less than 70% of total score, and there would be 70% up of the total number of the students passing criterion.  The target group would be 7 Grade 13 students of Ban Nong Waeng Yao, Khon Kaen elementary education service area office 3. This research was Action Research. Three categories of research tool were used in the study i.e. 1) Experiment tool had 6 lesson plans with 18 hours 2) Research reflection tools consisted of (1) instruction record (2) Teacher’s and student’s teaching behavior observation form (3) Students’ interviewing record (4) End-of-spiral oral reading English vocabulary evaluation, and (5) End-of-spiral English vocabulary remembering ability tests and 3) Evaluation tools consisted of (1) Oral reading English evaluation for 20 items ,and (2) English vocabulary remembering ability test for 20 items, Quantitative data Analytical was analyzed using descriptive statistics consisted of mean ( ), standard deviation (S.D), and percentage (%). Qualitative data Analytical was analyzed using content analysis.   


The results were found that


1) The average score of English vocabulary oral reading ability for 16.00, accounted for 80.00 percent and there were 13 students passed the criteria accounting for 100 percent which was higher than defined criteria.


2) The average score of English vocabulary remembering ability for 18.38, accounted for 91.92 percent and there were 13 students passed the criteria accounting for 100 percent which was higher than defined criteria
