Moral Behaviour Development of the Youths in duration of Technological Changing : Case Study Thai Youths in Khon-kaen Province

Abstract

The objectives of this research was to study Thai youths' ethical behavior, to study technological changes affecting Thai youths' ethical behavior, and to study Thai youths' ethical behavior development in KhonKaen province. This was the mixed research method. The data collection was done with methods of interviews and questionnaires before and after ethical training and with presenting the Analytical Descriptionresults. 


              A result of this research was found that the Thai youths' ethical behavior violations were consistent with the transgression of the five precepts, with the level of Thai youths' opinions about ethical transgression before and after the ethical training as follows. (1)PànàtipàtàThe most violent behavior Before training was 49.4 of torturing animals and after the ethical training 62.6 of killing animals. (2) Adinnàdànàthe most corrupt behavior was taking advantages from the others before the ethical training about 62.4 and after the ethical training about 61.6. (3) Kàmesumicchàcàràthe behavior related to sexual ethics violations in the school age was 80.4 before the ethical training and 83.1 after the training. (4)Musàvàdàthe most ethical behavior violation of communication was rough words with an average of 59.6 before the ethical training and 59.8after the ethical training. (5) Suràmerayamajjapamàdaññhànàthe most ethical violation of intoxicating behavior was a gamble with average of 71.2 before the ethical training and 72.2 after the ethical training. However, 78.8percent for the cause of Thai youths' ethical violation before the ethical training was that there was more provocation and 73.4percent for such a cause after the ethical training was the personal problem. The most factors of the Thai youths' ethical violation was 93.6 of the family problems before the ethical training and 76.3 after the ethical training. The most result of Thai youths' ethical violations affected  was 69.6 of drug addictions before the ethical training and 74.8 of poor academic performance after the ethical training.


              The additional result of this research was found that the technology had the greatest impact on Thai youths' ethical behavior violation with an average of 63.6before the ethical training and 73.2after the ethical training. However, the technology that had the most effect on promoting the Thai youths' moral behavior  was 47.4 of the easier Dhamma study before the ethical training and 68.0of a new Dharma learning tool after the ethical training.


              The research result of the Thai youths' ethical behavior development was found that the Thai youths wanted the most use of technology as a tool to develop ethical behavior with an average of 68.2 To develop the Thai youths' moral behavior should be aware of the appropriateness of age and perception, and study information about behaviors of violating the youths' ethics, causes of ethics violations, factors affecting ethics violations, factors affecting ethical behavior development, and assessment of the impact of ethics violations.  When there was a database, the ethical behavior development process could be determined to match the conditions and problems. The process of developing ethical behavior was consistent with 4 Bhavana principles. They were 4 aspects of life development, namely (1) the ethical behavior development in the body that was the development of physical health and physical ethics, (2) Development of ethical behavior in society and environment by means of society and environment to cause adaptation and the control system of the youths' ethical behavior directly and indirectly, (3) development of moral behavior in spirit that had effect on the youths' a psychological condition to represent further good action determined by mind, and (4) the development of ethical behavior in intelligence that was the development of knowledge, understanding, right view and good attitude, making the youths full of intellectual happiness, understanding life and the world as they really were, living with creative intelligence, and more ethical reasons.


              The development of ethical behavior had a relationship with the target youths, relating to the problem of ethics violation, age levels, knowledge levels and the process of developing ethics to suit the social context. To adopt technology as a tool for ethical development could be developed along with the development of ethical behavior. The ethical development base in the technological society should cover 4 bases, namely (1) controlling and developing the appropriate use organized into the boldly development base, (2) using technology without troubling oneself and the others, violating the other people's rights, transgressing the law, and transgressing morality organized into the moral development base, (3) using technology knowingly and consciously without using it as provocative media organized into the spiritual development base, and (4) using technology with value realization, creative benefits, life development and social development organized into the intelligent development base. Therefore, it was necessary to design activities in accordance with the ethical development covering all 4 bases, which would cause the process of ethical health development and which would make the youths good and happy through all live.
