A Development of English Communication Skills of the Student in Surin Province by using CLT Theory

Abstract

The purposes of this research were:1) to study the needs of English Teaching of students in the province. 2) to develop a training set of English communication skills of students in Surin province, using a process of CLT theory.3) to compare the results to develop English communication skills of students in Surin province, using the process of theory development CLT before and after. And 4) to study the satisfaction to English communication skills training of students in Surin province, using the process of  CLT theory


This research was a mix research, qualitative research and experimental research. Qualitative research by in-depth interview  with key information the number of 20 people by purport sampling.The target group used in the experiments include secondary school students in Surin the number of 30 people by cluster random sampling.The research tools were : interview, English communication skill exercises of students in Surin province, using the process of CLT theory and English communication skill tests.This research used One–Group Pretest–Posttest Design. Statistics used in the data comparative analysis were the efficiency of the activities which was E1/E2 and  t–test  type dependent samples


            This study found that


  1. The requirement of English learning of students in Surin province found that he activities should provide relative to the needs of students in real life. There are questions and answers in activities for students to share their experiences, dialogue according to various places in the community.or there may be games to play  debate, discussion.The content used in teaching and learning in English communication  should have focused on the concept of meaning and grammar. Including the duty to convey in general, specific topics and scene or the situation of language and teaching according methods in the teaching for develop communication skills. Focus on the use of the language of the learner more emphasis to the rules for using the language. Give the importance of fluency in language use and accuracy. Activities to practice the nearby real life situations as possible.

  2. A training set of English communication skills of students in Surin province using the CLT theory that efficiency was at 79.96 / 78.00. which is higher than the criterion.

            3.The compare results to develop English communication skills of students in Surin province, using the process of CLT theory high after than before to develop statistically significance at the 0.01


  1. The satisfaction to practice English communication skills of students in the process of Surin province by using theory CLT were at a high level.
