Students’ Perspectives and Teachers’ Experiences Toward Learning Management of Sex Education in Upper Secondary Schools under the Secondary Education Service Area Office, Prachin Buri and Nakhon Nayok

Abstract
This study aimed to explore the perspectives of students’ and teachers’ experiences with learning management on sex education in the Nakhon Nayok province. A mixed-methods study was used as the research methodology. The sample group was divided into two groups: teachers with experience teaching sex education (11 teachers), who were selected by purposive sampling for in-depth interviews with semi-structured interviews (IOC=1.00), and upper secondary school students (281 students) who were selected by cluster sampling to survey the perspectives of students who had learned sex education, by questionnaire (IOC = .92). Descriptive statistics were used to evaluate quantitative data, while content analysis was used to assess qualitative data. The results showed that: 1) Most students learned sex education on themes pertaining to pregnancy (98.75%), birth control and condom use (96.36%), and sexual development (95.91%). Most students (75.00%) got sex education through lectures. 2) Teachers’ experiences on teaching sex education were as follows: they primarily concentrated on teaching theories and lectures, insufficient time to teach activities, and the content taught focused on sexual development, safe sexual behaviour, gender values, and skills for sexual problem-solving. The instructional medium used in teaching were textbooks. Also, they employed measurement and evaluation that focused on knowledge tests.
