Main Article Content
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to study the composition of hotels affecting the decision to choose accommodation among the elderly, using the concept of holistic health promotion as an application for the hotel business. The study is qualitative research using in-depth interviews, consisting of a semi-structured interview with 25 key informants having at least 5 years of experience in hotel services or professional practices. The data were analyzed by content analysis using ATLAS.ti version 22.0.10.0 and verified for reliability with the data triangulation approach. The results showed that the composition of hotels based on the concept of holistic health promotion affected the decision to stay for the elderly, including 24 components. It was divided into seven distinctive components; the main ones were: 1) comfort and ease of use; 2) senses of security; and 3) a feeling of relaxation and comfort. In addition, there were 17 interesting components, and the main ones were: 1) a variety of food and beverages that are suitable for the age; 2) easy-to-use sanitary ware and toiletries; and 3) standardized services. The findings can be used as a guideline for designing and developing a hotel business to offer better services for elderly customers. This will help differentiate the market, increase satisfaction levels and overall sales, and enhance the sustainable growth of the hotel business in Thailand.
