Factors Influencing on Wellness Tourism Behavior of Thai Elderly Tourists Traveling to Phuket

Abstract

The objectives of this research were to study the behavior and factors influencing the wellness tourism behavior of Thai elderly tourists traveling to Phuket. The sample consisted of 424 Thai elderly tourists aged 60 years and over who traveled for wellness tourism in Phuket by convenience sampling. A questionnaire was employed as a research method to collect the data, and the data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and factors influencing wellness tourism behaviors of Thai elderly tourists traveling to Phuket by multiple regression analysis.


The results showed that the overall wellness tourism behavior of Thai elderly tourists in Phuket was at a high level. When considering each aspect, it was found that the aspect with the highest mean was word of mouth, followed by repeat visits, duration of the trip, tourism information awareness, and tourism destination, respectively. Factors influencing the wellness tourism behavior of elderly Thai tourists traveling to Phuket were environmental factors that are hygienic and safe from epidemic disease, promotion, process, price, product, and place at the influence level of 54.6 (R2 =.546) with statistical significance at the level of.05. The most influencing factor was the environment that was hygienic and safe from epidemic (X7) (Beta=.282), promotion (X4) (Beta=.175), process (X6) (Beta=.119), price (X2) (Beta=.111), product (X1) (Beta=.109), and place (X3) (Beta=.095), respectively.
