This research article aimed to (1) develop an innovative production process for Thai Siraporn (traditional head ornaments) and Thanimpimmaphorn (Thai ornamental accessories) from water hyacinth; (2) evaluate the quality of the produced ornaments in terms of aesthetics, durability, and production cost; and (3) apply the developed ornaments in Thai classical dance performances. This study adopted a mixed-methods research approach, integrating creative design with experimental research and development (R&D) processes. The findings revealed that the researcher developed a paper from water hyacinth as a substitute for traditional gasket materials. The produced Siraporn and Thanimphimpaporn-including items such as Radklao Yod (tiered crown), Krabang Na (forehead ornament), Krong Kho (neck collar), Thap Suang (chest ornament), and armlets-were created using traditional Thai artistic techniques. The evaluation results indicated that aesthetic quality was rated at the highest level of satisfaction (x̅=4.85, S.D.=0.48). Regarding durability, the products are lightweight, suitable for practical use, and resistant to breakage, and they received the highest level of satisfaction (x̅=4.85, S.D.=0.53). In terms of production cost, the findings indicated the cost-effectiveness of using natural substitute materials, both in budget efficiency and in the potential for further commercial development, with the highest level of satisfaction (x̅=4.86, S.D.=0.50). This research demonstrates the transformation of an invasive aquatic weed into a valuable resource while preserving Thai traditional knowledge. Furthermore, it serves as a prototype for cultural products under the circular economy concept, aiming to enhance the quality of life and generate sustainable community income.References
