The Integration of Cultural Capitals to Community-based Tourism Development Seashore KhlongDan, Bangbo District, Samutprakan Province

Abstract

This research aimed to 1) study and collect cultural capital in the Klong Dan Seashore community area, Bang Bo District, Samut Prakan Province, 2)  study tourist behavior in selecting routes and forms of tourism activities in the Khlong Dan Seashore community, Bang Bo District, Samut Prakan Province, and 3) propose guidelines for integrating the cultural capital model into the development of tourist attractions in the Khlong Dan Seashore community, Bang Bo District, Samut Prakan Province. This research used a mixed methodology of qualitative and quantitative research according to research objectives 1 and 3. Interviews were conducted with key informants, including local leaders, community leaders, scholars, heads of government agencies, and stakeholder citizens, by specifying a sample of 41 people. Content analysis was used to present the research results. The qualitative study was based on a survey of 400 tourists.  Data was analyzed using a t-test, an F-test, and an ANOVA. The results of this research were as follows: 1) Khlong Dan Seashore community, Bang Bo District, Samut Prakan Province, is a community whose culture and way of life are mainly related to water from the past to the present through important values of history, aesthetics, academic and social aspects of cultural capital divided into career, way of life, and tradition and culture. 2) The behavior of most tourists is to select tourist attractions from experience tourism activities. They prefer activities based on cultural capital and career wisdom, which owners teach and train. 3) guidelines for Integrating cultural capital into developing tourist attractions in the Khlong Dan Seashore community, Bang Bo District, Samut Prakan Province are the participation of members and network agencies, the encouragement of community members of cultural capital values, the construction of cultural confidence, the promotion of good relationship among community members, the sharing of benefits, and the information exchanges.
