Abstract

The objectives of this research were to 1) Study Chinese woodblock prints and traditional printing techniques and 2) Analyze the relationship between Chinese woodblock prints, traditional printing techniques, and art market trends. This research is qualitative research, using the literature review method related to Chinese woodblock prints, traditional techniques, values, and art market trends and in-depth interviews with seven samples, they are 1 woodblock print artist, 1 traditional craftsman, 2 woodblock print collector, and 3 entrepreneurs to analyze the market trends. The analysis of the interview contents revealed that 1) Chinese woodblock prints have combined different artistic styles in different historical periods. It shows the cultural characteristics of the nation. They have been highly popular in the market trend. Therefore, artists must combine the market's needs with their own creations in terms of content and form; and 2) By combining tradition and innovation while maintaining traditional printing techniques, artists can combine traditional elements with modern aesthetic concepts to achieve the integration of tradition and modernity. Traditional printing techniques and art market trends are closely related and have a mutual influence while preserving traditional culture
