Structural Family Therapy and Positive Psychology

This article aims to present concepts about structural family therapy. Its scope is to present theoretical concepts in analyzing family structures such as subsystems, boundaries, roles, rules, and power. Also, this article presents therapy techniques, such as joining, reframing, enacting, boundary making, and restructuring. In addition, the authors present the above concepts with positive psychology which include interesting techniques such as initial rapport building and strengths finding, punctuating the positive or focusing on strengths, reframing, focusing on parents as models, enacting, and finding exceptions. In addition, at the end of the article, the authors present both an example of a structural family therapy program combined with the use of positive psychology and samples of interesting research papers.
