Knowledge Management for Inheriting Banana Stalk Carving Art of Phetchaburi

Abstract

Knowledge management for inheriting banana stalk carving art of Phetchaburi had the following objectives: 1) to design the procedure for knowledge management of banana stalk carving art of Phetchaburi; 2) to compile the knowledge of banana stalk carving art of Phetchaburi in a systematic way to get the explicit knowledge that is accurate, complete, effective for learning, and to publish through the proper technologies; and 3) to inherit banana stalk carving art of Phetchaburi by instituting the learning community with banana stalk carving artists of Phetchaburi and other areas. The designing resulted in 7 knowledge management activities which were: 1) knowledge extraction; 2) knowledge take note creating; 3) knowledge relay technique; 4) core knowledge composing; 5) true knowledge consideration; 6) knowledge communication; and 7) knowledge inheritance. The final findings of core knowledge were as follows: 1) the definition of banana stalk carving art; 2) the history of banana stalk carving art of Phetchaburi; 3) the identity of banana stalk carving art of Phetchaburi; 4) the pattern of banana stalk carving art of Phetchaburi; 5) the banana trees for banana stalk carving; 6) the material and equipment for banana stalk carving; 7) the salutation for banana stalk carving teachers; 8) the process of banana stalk carving; 9) the technique of banana stalk carving; and 10) the pathway to be the banana stalk carving artists.
