Rajabhat University : How to go better

Abstract

Rajabhat University has been developed from teacher training school at the beginning it found. It has growth through several periods until it has finally become the university where now provides more divers educational programs besides producing and developing teachers that are the main purposes of Rajabhat University. However, currently, Rajabhat University has already shifted its position as University or higher education providers; thus, it should aim to creating its missions relating to local development including economic, technological, political, cultural, and social developments based on good governance, and continuously develop teaching and learning methods, research and creative projects, academic services as well as promoting art and culture focusing on sustainable development for local communities.

As the implication of “Rajabhat” which means people of the king, it seems that Rajabhat universities nationwide are serving the king’s duties in order to develop country through education system by delivering education to people equally and shifting teacher production to meet higher standard; moreover, providing education service for local people should be done simultaneously with promoting folk wisdom, art, and culture by integrating people to participate in natural resources and environment management process to achieve sustainable development.

Therefore, executives and entire people related to Rajabhat University should strongly focus on their competency development to respond to strategies of local development plans and expectations of local people in particular places, that will eventually lead Rajabhat University to truly university for the local.
