The A Learning Package Development of Sufficiency Economy for Students of a School for The Blind in Upper Northeast Thailand Using the Participatory Design.

Abstract

This study aims to make a needs assessment for a learning package development of sufficiency economy for students of a school for the blind in upper northeast thailand using the participatory design, to develop a learning package for them, and to examine its effectiveness. We recruited 44 people (10 stakeholders, 15 experts, and 19 individuals concerned) and applied The seven steps Model (Brahmawong and Vate-U-Lan. 2009). Over this study, we developed and used a learning package, an interview form, a questionnaire for obtaining the specialist opinions, an achievement test, and a survey form for the students’ satisfaction. The result shows that braille books are suitable for totally blind students, educational videos with scripts are suitable for blind students and low vision students, educational video books are suitable for low vision students. The learning package development using the participatory design follows 7 steps including: 1) problem orientation, 2) target group’s characteristic analysis, 3) need assessment, 4) package design, 5) package production, 6) evaluation, and 7) distribution. The satisfaction among those who experienced the learning package development is at a high level. The effectiveness index of the learning package development is 75.42%, which can be considered satisfactory overall.
