Abstract

The purposes of this research were to: 1) develop a Thai language course entitled “Sentences” in an Open Learning Management System to achieve the efficiency criterion of 80/80; 2) compare students’ learning achievement before and after studying the Thai language course entitled “Sentences” through the Open Learning Management System; and 3) investigate students’ satisfaction toward the Thai language course entitled “Sentences” in the Open Learning Management System. The research procedures consisted of three phases. Phase 1 involved studying and reviewing related documents, textbooks, concepts, theories, and previous research concerning the Thai language course on sentences. Phase 2 focused on the development of the Thai language course in the Open Learning Management System. Phase 3 involved the implementation and efficiency testing of the developed course.The sample group consisted of 30 students from Piboonbumpen Demonstration School, Burapha University, selected through cluster random sampling using classrooms as the sampling units. The research instruments included the Thai language course in the Open Learning Management System, a learning achievement test, and a satisfaction questionnaire. The quality of the developed course was evaluated by five experts in content and educational technology. The statistics used for data analysis were descriptive statistics, efficiency testing based on the E1/E2 criterion, and dependent samples t-test.

The research findings revealed that:

1) the Thai language course entitled “Sentences” in the Open Learning Management System was rated at a high level of quality (equation=4.32, S.D.=0.43) and achieved an efficiency score of 80.45/82.55, which met the established 80/80 criterion;

2) the students’ post-learning achievement scores were significantly higher than their pre-learning achievement scores at the .01 level of statistical significance; and

3) the students’ satisfaction toward the Thai language course entitled “Sentences” in the Open Learning Management System was at a high level (equation=4.06, S.D.=0.72).
