Abstract

The purposes of this research were: 1) to develop and evaluate the efficiency of active learning lesson plans that integrate online educational games and higher-order questioning to enhance the reading comprehension ability of sixth-grade students, based on the 80/80 efficiency criterion and 2) to compare the students’ reading comprehension ability before and after the intervention. The sample consisted of 32 sixth-grade students at Jindabamrung School, selected through simple random sampling. The research instruments included four lesson plans and a 40-item reading comprehension test. Data were analyzed using mean, percentage, and paired samples t-test.

The research findings were as follows: 1) the efficiency of the active learning lesson plans integrating online educational games and higher-order questioning was 81.25/88.59, which exceeded the established 80/80 criterion and 2) the students’ reading comprehension ability after the intervention was significantly higher than before at the .05 level. The mean score increased from 18.88 on the pre-test to 35.44 on the post-test, out of a total score of 40.
