GUIDELINES FOR DEVELOPING COMMUNITY CAPITAL INNOVATION TO EXPAND THE AREA-BASED DEVELOPMENT IN BO KAEO SUB-DISTRICT

Abstract

This academic article is based on document analysis and the outcomes of an academic service project implementation entitled Study and Development of Community Capital Database Based on Local Wisdom for Community Organization Capacity Development, Bo Kaeo Sub-district, Ban Muang District, Sakon Nakhon Province. This study forms part of a strategic local development project undertaken by Rajabhat Universities for the fiscal year 2025. It employed a purposive approach to selecting fieldwork activities in Sakon Nakhon Province within the Community Development program, with integration into instructional practices. Field operations supported community-based studies and the development of a community capital database based on local wisdom in Bo Kaeo sub-district through participatory approaches. Qualitative tools, including interviews, observations, and small-group discussions were utilized. In addition, the activities aimed to develop skills in processing and packaging herbal food products among Nonna Farmer Groups.

This paper presents the findings of a community-based study that reflects the potential of community capital and analyzes the changing community context of local communities that influences natural capital development model, with a focus on forest resource management and organic or integrated agriculture among Nonna Farmer Groups. The study also highlights the need to strengthen the community’s connection to natural resources and the environment through the expansion of outcomes at all levels, alongside the guidelines for developing innovative to create concrete learning spaces. These include accessible mechanisms that support clearer learning processes, such as knowledge management systems, learning centers or household-level model agricultural plots. Furthermore, enhancing leadership within and across networks, together with the adoption of online communication channels, which are a form formed by the needs to create a shared approach for spatial development.
