ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT IN BASIC DIGITAL LITERACY OF THE ELDERLY IN NAKHON SI THAMMARAT PROVINCE

The purposes of this research were to examine 1) a learning achievement in basic digital literacy skills of the elderly in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province before and after the workshop, 2) a level of basic digital literacy skills of the elderly in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, and 3) basic digital literacy skills of the elderly in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. The sample consisted of 100 elderly participants from Nakhon Si Thamarat Province in 2022, selected through a purposive sampling method for interviews. The research tools included a workshop on basic digital literacy skills, a basic digital literacy skill assessment, and a basic digital literacy skills test. By having three qualified and experienced experts check for accuracy, the IOC (Item–Objective Congruence Index) was equal to 1.00, indicating that all questions were validated as accurate, appropriate, and consistent with the objectives. The data were analyzed by calculating statistical values, such as frequency, mean, standard deviation, and t–test for Dependent Samples.
The result showed that
1. The learning achievement on basic digital literacy skills of the elderly in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province after the workshop was higher than before at the statistical significance level of .05.
2. The basic digital skills of the elderly in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province were at a moderate level (= 2.55, S.D. = 1.14).
3. The basic digital literacy skills of the elderly in Nakhon Si Thammarat Province were at a low level, with an average score of 5.16 out of 10 points.
