Factors Affecting Satisfaction with the Use of Google Maps Application by Personnel and Students Rangsit University

Abstract

The objectives of this research were 1) To compare demographic characteristics with satisfaction in choosing to use the Google Maps application among staff and students at Rangsit University, and (2) to examine the factors influencing satisfaction in choosing to use the Google Maps application among staff and students at Rangsit University. The sample consisted of 417 respondents selected through non-probability sampling using convenience sampling. Data was collected using an online questionnaire. Statistical analyses included frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, difference testing, and multiple linear regression analysis. Descriptive results indicated that most respondents were female, aged 25 years or below, single, educated below the bachelor’s level, and primarily students. Overall satisfaction with Google Maps was high (  = 3.83, S.D. = 0.847).
The highest-rated dimensions were perceived benefits and usability (both  = 3.84), followed by reliability (  = 3.83) and presentation (  = 3.82). Difference testing showed significant differences
(p < 0.05) in satisfaction across certain dimensions by gender, age, monthly income, job position, and driving license status, whereas marital status and education level were not significantly different. Multiple regression results further revealed that age, marital status, education level, job position, monthly income, and driving license status significantly influenced satisfaction in some dimensions
(p < 0.05), with reliability being the dimension most affected by personal factors. These findings suggest that users report high satisfaction with Google Maps, while specific personal factors are associated with variations in satisfaction—particularly regarding reliability. The results may inform efforts to enhance location data quality and user experience in ways that better align with different user groups.
