A Comparative Study of Presenting Photographs on Black and White Document Using Augmented Reality, QR Codes and Traditional Printed Materials on Academic Achievement, Photography Skills and Satisfaction Among Undergraduate Students in Digital Technology for Education
Keywords:
Augmented Reality, QR Code, Technology-Enhanced Print Materials, black-and-white supplementary materials, satisfaction with black-and-white supplementary materialsAbstract
The purposes of this research were to: 1) compare academic achievement, 2) compare photography skills, and 3) study the satisfaction of undergraduate students learning with three formats of supplementary print-based materials: Augmented Reality (AR), Quick Response Code (QR Code), and traditional printed materials. The sample group consisted of 27 second-year undergraduate students majoring in Digital Technology for Education, Faculty of Education, Ubon Ratchathani Rajabhat University, during the first semester of the academic year 2025. The participants were selected using purposive sampling. The experiment was conducted using a Counterbalanced Design. The research instruments included three formats of supplementary print-based materials (AR, QR Code, and traditional), an academic achievement test, a photography skill assessment form, and a satisfaction questionnaire. Data were analyzed using mean, standard deviation, Friedman Test, and Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test.
The research findings were as follows:
1) There was no significant difference in academic achievement among students learning with AR, QR Code, and traditional printed materials ( = 1.00, p = .607, W = .019).
2) There was no significant difference in photography skills among the three groups ( = 2.854, p = .240, W = .053).
3) Students’ satisfaction with the QR Code and AR formats was at the highest level, and significantly higher than the traditional format ( = 43.00, p < .001, W = .796). The QR Code format received the highest satisfaction rating due to its ease of use.
