Development of Scenario-Based Learning Activities to Enhance Cross Cultural Competencies between Thailand and Japan

Abstract

The objectives of this research were 1) to develop scenario-based learning activities to enhance the cross cultural competencies between Thailand and Japan and 2) to study the outcomes of the scenario-based learning activities to enhance the cross cultural competencies between Thailand and Japan. The samples used in the research were the 12^th grade students enrolling   JA30206, Japanese VI Course, in the second semester in the academic year of 2023 in Japanese Language Program at Vichittrapittaya School, Warinchamrab District, Ubonratchathani Province. The research instruments were 1) lesson plans for scenario-based learning activities, 2) a learning achievement test with 30 items, 3) an evaluation form used to evaluate the cross cultural competencies between Thailand and Japan in 3 dimensions and 5 indicators, and 4) a learning log. The data were analyzed by using mean, standard deviation, and data content analysis.  

The research findings were as follows.

1. The findings of the evaluation of the quality of the lesson plans of the scenario-based learning activities to enhance the cross cultural competencies between Thailand and Japan in the overall showed that the lesson plans were appropriate at the highest level (x̄  = 4.60, S.D.=.20).
2. The findings showed that the mean score of the learning achievement of the students

was 26 scores out of 30 scores and the findings of the evaluation of the cross cultural competencies between Thailand and Japan showed that the cross cultural competencies between Thailand and Japan were at the excellent levels in all dimensions (U =3.68 σ=.32).
