Development of English Writing Skills by Using a B-SLIM Model for the Fourth Grade Students

Abstract

The objectives of this research were 1) to develop the students’ writing skills and to find the efficiency of the exercises for practice writing skills based on the efficiency criteria of 80/80, 2) to compare the students’ writing skills before and after learning by a B-SLIM model. The samples used in the research were 30 students studying in the fourth grade in the second semester in the academic year of 2020 at Ban Sangming School and Ban Nakhamdonteaw School under Ubon Ratchathani Primary Educational Area Office 1. They were randomized by cluster sampling. The research instruments were exercises for practicing writing skills by using a B-SLIM model, a learning management plan, and a test used to evaluate the English writing skills. The statistics used to analyze data were percentage, mean, standard deviation, and t-test.

              The research findings were as follows.

1. The exercises for practicing writing skills by using a B-SLIM model had the efficiency of the process and the efficiency of the outcomes at 87.57/82.11.
2. The students had the learning achievement of the English writing skills by using a B-SLIM model after learning higher than before learning with the statistical significance at the level of .01.
