The Development of Instructional Learning Package Focused on Cartoon as a Media in Topic of Probability for Develop Reasoning Ability for Grade 9 Students

Abstract

The purposes of this research were 1) to develop instructional learning package focused on cartoon as a media based on probability for develop reasoning ability for grade 9 students, 2) to investigate students learning achievement, 3) to compare students reasoning ability, 4) to explore students learning satisfaction through cartoons as an instructional learning package based on probability. The sample used in this study consisted of 33 grade 9 students at Promkiri Pittayakom School in Amphoe Promkiri, Nakhon Si Thammarat. The research instrument was the cartoons as an instructional learning package based on probability to develop reasoning ability for grade 9 students. The cartoons learning package consisted of 1) teacher’s handbook, 2) lesson plans, 3) exercises and materials, 4) achievement tests, 5) mathematics skills reasoning ability test, 6) satisfaction questionnaire The results of this research findings were as follow; 1. The cartoons learning package based on probability to develop reasoning ability for grade 9 students had E1/E 2= 81.25/78.28 efficacy which the main characteristic of developed learning package was the various methods of communication that used to presented the mathematical concept. 2. Reasoning ability after learning through cartoons learning package was higher than before at .05 level of significance. 3. The students’ achievement after learning through cartoons learning package was higher than 75 percent at .05 level of significance. 4. The overall student’s satisfaction toward learning through cartoons learning package for grade 9 students was at the highest.
