Abstract

This paper aims to provide an understanding in John Stuart Mill’s life, education and works. That is, this research was political philosophy method conducted through a textual analysis; the result shows that, Mill was born in London, United Kingdom. His father was James Mill, The Scottish philosopher and journalist, Mill was educated by his father and never attended school, his father was convinced that if brought Mill up in the right way, there was a good chance that Mill would develop into a genius, his father taught his son Mill at home, Mill had turned into a kind of genius, So his father’s experiment had worked. Mill was studying Greek, Latin, France, Philosophy, History, Politics, Mathematical, Economics, Science and Poet. Mill had been brought up as a utilitarian; He became a campaigner against injustice, a politician, a journalist, and was the most influential philosopher of the nineteenth century. He has many works, his important works is A System of Logic (1843) the Principles of Political Economy (1848) On Liberty (1859) Considerations on Representative Government (1861) Utilitarianism (1863) and The Subjection of Women (1869). Mill’s most important work in this regard is his tract Autobiography, published in 1873.
