ภาษาศาสตร์เชิงนิเวศ : วิธีการใหม่แห่งความหมาย

ภาษาศาสตร์เชิงนิเวศ เป็นสาขาใหม่ของการศึกษาภาษาศาสตร์ที่เกิดเริ่มก่อตัวขึ้น ในตะวันตกตั้งแต่ปี 1970 และได้พัฒนาในด้านระเบียบวิธีที่ชัดเจนมากขึ้นในเวลาต่อมา อย่างไรก็ตาม ภาษาศาสตร์เชิงนิเวศอาจจะค่อนข้างใหม่สำหรับวงวิชาการด้านภาษาและวรรณกรรมไทย บทความนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อสำรวจและนำเสนอสาระสำคัญของภาษาศาสตร์เชิงนิเวศใน 4 ประเด็นคือ ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างภาษาศาสตร์กับนิเวศวิทยา ความหมายและความเป็นมาของภาษาศาสตร์เชิงนิเวศ ระเบียบวิธีในการศึกษาที่สำคัญของภาษาศาสตร์เชิงนิเวศ และประเด็นสุดท้าย คือข้อถกเถียงทางวิชาการในหมู่นักภาษาศาสตร์เชิงนิเวศที่มีต่อการศึกษาภาษาในแนวทางนี้ โดยหวังว่าจะได้เป็นแนวทางให้กับผู้ที่สนใจได้นำมาพัฒนาและประยุกต์ใช้ในการศึกษาภาษาศาสตร์เชิงนิเวศในวงวิชาการด้านภาษาและวรรณกรรมไทยต่อไป
