The Development Of Proficiency In Listening And Speaking In French Language Through The Implementation Of Activity-Based Learning Strategies With Multimedia Resources Of Grade 7 Students

Abstract

The objectives of this research were: 1) To compare the French listening and speaking abilities of Mathayomsuksa 1 (Grade 7) students before and after participating in activity-based learning integrated with multimedia. 2) To examine the development of students' French listening and speaking abilities during the implementation of activity-based learning integrated with multimedia 3)To study the participation behaviors of Mathayomsuksa 1 students during the activity-based learning process using multimedia, aimed at enhancing their French listening and speaking skills. The sample group in this study consisted of nine Mathayomsuksa 1 students at a demonstration school in Bangkok  who enrolled in the elective course "Basic French II" during the academic year 2024. The research instruments included: 1) A lesson plan designed for developing French listening and speaking skills through activity-based learning integrated with multimedia, 2) A French listening proficiency test 3) A French speaking proficiency assessment form,  4) A participation behavior observation form. Data were analyzed using mean scores (M), and standard deviations (S.D.) The research findings were as follows: 1. The students demonstrated significantly higher post-instruction scores in French listening and speaking skills compared to their pre-instruction scores, with statistical significance at the .05 level.2. The students showed continuous improvement in their French listening and speaking skills across three evaluations conducted at the end of each learning unit.3. The students' participation behaviors during the activity-based learning sessions integrated with multimedia were positive at a good level.
