Abstract

This research is an application of the Design Sprint process in conjunction with teaching activities for Computer for visual arts to develop a design thinking process for first-year art students. The objectives of this research were: 1) To innovate teaching methods for Computer for visual arts with the Design Sprint process. 2) To evaluate the trial of the Design Sprint process with students in Computer for visual arts subject in three areas: Design Knowledge, communication skills (Design Brief), and creative skills.


               A sample in the research was selected from 28 first-year students in art studies, faculty of education, semester 2/2019, research tools including 1) knowledge test, 2) communication skill assessment (Design Brief), 3) creative skill assessment. Data were analyzed using Consistency index (IOC), Percentage, Average (X-Bar), Difficulty (p), and Discrimination (r).


            The findings were as follows 1) The average result of design principles knowledge evaluation with the objective test was 74.83% (70% assessment criteria = passed), which pass the criteria 2) communication skills (Design Brief) rubric scoring criteria were grouped into 4 groups, summarized in 4 groups, average = 18.75 points, meaning very good, and 3) Creative Design Assessment Form The criteria for scoring Score Rubric by grouping participants into 4 groups, summarizing scores including 4 groups, average = 18 points, means very good.
