การศึกษาเชิงประวัติของคำว่า “ทำ” และ “ทำให้”

งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาคำว่า “ทำ” และ “ทำให้”
ในสมัยสุโขทัย สมัยอยุธยา สมัยธนบุรีและสมัยรัตนโกสินทร์ตอนต้น โดยเก็บข้อมูลจากงานวรรณคดีประเภทร้อยแก้วที่ได้รับการตีพิมพ์แล้วจำนวน 11 เรื่อง ผลการศึกษาพบว่าหน้าที่ของคำว่า “ทำ” ในทุกสมัยทำหน้าที่เป็นสกรรมกริยา (transitive verb) พบทั้งโครงสร้างประโยค 2 ลักษณะ คือ NP + ทำ / กระทำ + NP + (NP) และ NP + กริยาช่วย + ทำ / กระทำ + NP ส่วนคำว่า “ทำ” ที่ทำหน้าที่เป็นการีตกริยา (causative verb) พบเพียงในสมัยรัตนโกสินทร์ตอนต้นเท่านั้น พบโครงสร้างประโยค 2 ลักษณะ คือ NP +__+ NP + S และ NP +__+ NP2 + V2 และเมื่อนำประโยคมาจัดประเภทกริยาการีต ตามแนวคิดของอิวาซากิ และอิงคาภิรมย์ (Iwasaki & Ingkaphirom, 2005, p. 324) นั้นพบเพียงประเภทกริยาการีตมีอำนาจประเภทเดียว ซึ่งอยู่ในกรอบประโยค NP +__+ NP + S และเริ่มพบว่ามีการใช้คำว่า “ทำให้” ในสมัยอยุธยา ดังโครงสร้าง NP + ทำให้ + NP + V2
