Book Review
Abstract
Cognitive linguistics is a contemporary field in linguistics, targeted at (cognitive) linguists, researchers, advanced university students, and educated individuals. This book, “Cognitive Linguistics. A Complete Guide” by Vyvyan Evans (2019), was developed from the previous book, titled “Cognitive Linguistics: An Introduction” by Vyvyan Evans and Melany Green (2006). This current book gives readers a thorough overview of cognitive linguistics, not only in the theoretical key commitments: the Generalisation Commitment and the Cognitive Commitment, but also in the links of cognitive linguistics to other theoretical fields such as semantics and grammar, as well as in the applications and extensions of cognitive linguistics to other areas of studies e.g., language and society, discourse, literature, and gesture and sign language.
