The objectives of this research are 1) to develop students reading comprehension skills using an SQ4R teaching method, and 5W1H teaching method management, by using reading chapters taken from some local literature, and 2) to assess the students' satisfaction with the proposed study plan. The sample group was obtained by purposive sampling, and comprised 45 students in an 8th grade class at Mahavajiravudh School, Songkhla Province. The research tools of this study included a learning management plan which is based on an SQ4R teaching method, and 5W1H management, reading chapters taken from sone local literature, an achievement test, and a satisfaction questionnaire. The development of students' comprehension skills was measured by comparing the means and standard deviations of the students’ achievement scores obtained from the pre- and post-tests. The researcher used a dependent t-test to analyze the data. The results revealed that the development of the students' achievements was significantly higher at the .05 level after the experiment. Moreover, the students expressed a high, but not significant, level of satisfaction towards the SQ4R teaching method and 5W1H teaching method management ( = 4.39 and S.D. = 0.65).Downloads
