THE STUDY OF LOCAL WISDOM IN PALM-LEAFED CARP, TALARD PLU SUB – DISTRICT, THONBURI DISTRICT, BANKOK.

Abstract

The study of palm-leafed carp of Talard Plu, Thonburi, Bangkok, was the investigation of local wisdom about Wichit patterns palm-leafed carp and the creation of an online media work called “Wichit Patterns Palm-Leafed Carp Community Enterprise”. The study method was qualitative research. The data were collected from related documents, interviews, conversations, and observations. The community has launched the community enterprise in which was related to production, that was the palm-leafed carp with the full title of “Wichit Patterns Palm-Leafed Carp Community Enterprise”. The community enterprise was managed by a group of folks who had a common lifestyles and carried out activities, produced, and processed the products based on the local wisdom, using environmental, economic, cultural, and community social resources. This resulted in the people self-dependence and community income. The focus of this enterprise was the local people’s benefits and strength. There was a number of customers, both Thais and foreigners, whose order required a number of products in order to use them as the place decoration such as hotels, residences, restaurants, etc. Apart from its remarkable beauty, the weaved fish was believed was the symbol of richness and the protection from bad things. So, it has a famous mobile up until the present time. Palm-leafed carp, a handcraft by Mr.Natthorn Daengseephon, the leader of the Wichit Patterns Palm-Leafed Carp Community Enterprise, had its own unique pattern so that it has been called Wichit Patterns Palm-Leafed Carp. The product’s patterns have been designed based on individual interests, which has been carefully studied, examined, and modified, until it became a famous and acceptable product by both Thai and foreign customers. and to create video media “Thai Carp Carp Community Enterprise” published in an online format.
