A STUDY OF CONTEMPORARY WORSHIP SONG BY W501 BETWEEN 2014-2021

The purpose of this research is to categorize types of worship songs, analyze the language used, and examine the doctrinal content and themes present in the contemporary worship songs of W501 during 2014-2021. This research uses a qualitative research method by analyzing documents. The research tools are a song categorization record and a language and doctrinal analysis form. Song categorization is based on the musical structure classification from the study by Rentfrow et al. (2011). Language analysis focuses on the types of words used, while doctrinal analysis applies the three Christian virtues—faith, hope, and love. The research found that music style is mainly Mellow, followed by Intense and Urban then Campestral and none Sophisticated. In addition, language analysis base on 1 Corinthians 13:13 reveals that worship songs were popularly used. The pronouns for God are Him, Jesus, and God.Human pronouns such as ‘me’, ‘us’, and ‘child’ are frequently used. As for verbs, there are 3 types according to Christian qualities. The words related to faith are worship, and hallelujah. For hope are hope and shelter. For love are mercy, gratitude and trust. This indicates that the producers have created Thai worship songs based on the Bible. It allows Christians to accept and use worship songs in their daily lives.
