Abstract

This research article is part of a study on Innovative fashion lifestyle products with alternative aterial from mushroom under the concept of circular design, conducted within the Doctor of Philosophy Program in Creative Arts curriculum. The objective of this research was to develop nnovative alternative materials from mushrooms for fashion lifestyle brands. This qualitative research included experiments in creating innovative alternative materials for use in fashion and lifestyle applications. Data collection employed expert interviews using the Delphi Technique process across two phases. Phase 1 interview aimed to obtain guidelines for developing alternative materials from mushrooms for fashion lifestyle products. When the prototype of alternative materials is completed, Phase 2 interviews were conducted to evaluate the development of alternative materials from mushrooms that are suitable for fashion lifestyle products and brands.

The research findings revealed that the experimental process with innovative leather material forms successfully created alternative materials from mushrooms for fashion lifestyle products. The ingredients are 40% oyster mushroom, 40% binder, and 20%water s the main ingredients, processed through boiling, blending, mixing, then applied using a coating method on pineapple fibers or waste pressed fabric, fabric before drying. The resulting mushroom-based alternative material prototype exhibited a texture that was both rough and smooth, similar to leather material, with a thickness of 0.3-1 millimeter. Based on the results of testing prototype materials, alternative materials from mushrooms numbered 13, 14, 15 and 16 demonstrated overall suitability for fashion lifestyle products and will serve as primary materials in the design of fashion lifestyle products and brands based on innovative mushroom alternative materials within the circular design concept.
