THE CREATION OF A DANCE FROM PARADISE OF CHANDRAKASEM SONG

Abstract

The purpose of this study, the Creation of a Dance from "Paradise of Chandrakasem" Song, was to present “the Paradise of Chandrakasem”, a song that presented the beauty of the atmosphere and important places at Chandrakasem Rajabhat University. This dance performance study focused on seven elements of creative dance, the concept of integrating visual and auditory communication through music videos, the use of symbols in dance, contemporary dance, post-modern arts, and site-specific art, resulting in the performance of contemporary dance. The results of the creations revealed seven categories of the creation. The first category was the performance a music video based on the concept of integrating visual and auditory communication. The second category was the dancers who were knowledgeable and skillful in contemporary dance.  The third category was the movements which were presented through contemporary dance inspired by improvisation and partnering techniques including body support, lifting to float up, as well as expressing emotions and feelings.  The fourth one was sound and music which were employed to compose and rearrange the Paradise of Chandrakasem song. The fifth one was the costumes which adopted a modern Thai style, employing natural color tones to reflect simplicity in line with postmodern art concepts. The sixth one was the props for the performance which were designed and adapted from discarded materials, incorporating the concept of symbolism in dance. They emphasized simplicity and ease of communication. The last category was the venue. The performance venue was selected within the campus of Chandrakasem Rajabhat University. The selection criteria were based on the lyrics of the local folk song "Sawan Chanthrakasem," the size of the space, and the diversity of performance areas, aligning with the concept of site-specific art.
