FORK PERFORMING ARTS REVITALIZATION PROCESS

Abstract

This academic paper analyzes the process of folk performing arts revitalization process with an
overview of the current folk performing arts circumstances, direction of performing arts in the modern
world that leads to the revitalization and conservation process of folk performing arts. This work also
includes recommendations on conservation and inheritance, applications for performances creative design
and popular theoretical concepts in the research process. The data used in this study were collected
from 8 research papers related to the revitalization process of folk wisdom that is fading away or
disappearing.
The results of the study and research found that the factors affecting folk performing arts were
as follows: 1) value recognition of people in the community, 2) awareness of people in the community,
3) education of the members of the community. The revitalization process is very important to help keep each local cultural heritage from disappearing. In an effective revitalization process, there should be a
strong conservation and inheritance guideline, as well as the application and design of folk performing
arts in order to add new values to suit the era; thus, allowing the folk performing arts to be able to adapt
in today’s society sustainably.
