The objectives of this research were to collect cultural knowledge and to study the guidelines for the development of a cultural learning resource centre for the Dai Ya ethnicities. The data was collected by qualitative research from Dai Ya people and representatives of nine other ethnic groups in Maesai, and deputies from both government and non-government sectors. Quantitative research collected data by questionnaires from people who joined in the meeting of the Dai Ya assembly in Thailand, the sample group comprised of 82 persons.

The research found that Dai Ya ethnicities primary hometown was in China. They had migration to Thailand in 1928, had settled down in Pasakkwang village Maekham Sub-district, Maechan District, Chiang Rai Province.  When their numbers increased some people left their original group and set up a new village called Namborkaow in Huaykhrai sub-district, Maesai district, Chiang Rai Province where they have lived up until now. Dai Ya people integrated with new cultures in the new area quickly but they still conserved their identity by transmission culture identity, provided  social activities that exposure their culture and helped in the acceptance of their identity.

Guidelines for Dai Ya ethnic cultural learning resource centre at Namborkhao Village are needed to assist in the development of the centre. The Dai Ya group identified that they have no learning centre for their members and people who are interested in Dai Ya culture, nor do they have a place to store Dai Ya artifacts they acquire. They are also concerned by the decrease of people who know about Dai Ya’s culture. The development of the learning centre can facilitate the spread Dai Ya ethnicities culture and other ethnic groups who are located nearby.  It can also be developed into a tourist attraction which can generate income for the community in the future
