บทคัดย่อ

This research aims to study the process of vetiver grass fiber and the physical property of the fiber spinning with other natural fibers such as cotton, Samia Ricini, silk and plastic fiber such as plastic rope, wire rope and straw rope. The experiment was conducted by Ban Ko Sao female saving group, Ban Kae Mai handicraft group and Ban Don Chai handicraft group in Pusang, Payao. The physical property testing consisted of the standard test method in size ASTM D 1059: 2001, toughness ASTM D 2256: 2002 and  flexibility. The result from this test would be the method for handicraft design in the future. The result from this experiment revealed that when the fiber’s size was 0.73-0.15 Ne, the top ductility was at 4.75-9.97 kgf. The elongation at break was in between 7.73- 11.48% . Vetiver fiber mixed with straw rope had the toughness with statistical significance of .05. The tensile strength of the fiber averagely was 9.97 kg. Vetiver fiber mixed with cotton had the toughness with statistical significance of .05. The tensile strength of the fiber averagely was 6.06 kg. Vetiver fiber mixed with wire rope had the toughness with statistical significance of .05. The tensile strength of the fiber was the best at 11.48%. Vetiver fiber mixed with Samia Ricini had the toughness with statistical significance of .05. The tensile strength of the fiber averagely was at 11.06%. The vetiver fiber can be used for further development in handicraft industry. The vetiver fiber mixed with wire rope or cotton can be used with products that have to carry a lot of weight. Fiber with elasticity can be used to create products that need flexibility. Fiber mixed with straw rope or Samia Ricini will be suitable for this. Vetiver fiber can be dyed with other fiber in any color.
