         การวิจัยเรื่องความเชื่อต่อวาลีในสามจังหวัดชายแดนใต้ พบประเด็นสำคัญดังนี้ 1) ตำนานวาลีทั้ง 4 สำนวน บ่งบอกว่าบรรพชนในพื้นที่นี้มีทั้งกลุ่มที่นับถือเทพทางธรรมชาติ อันเป็นคติดั้งเดิม และอีกกลุ่มที่นับถืออิสลามอันเป็นศาสนาที่เพิ่งรับเข้ามาใหม่ 2) “การกลับกันของเรื่อง” และ“ชุดความคิด” ที่เป็น “ขั้วตรงข้าม” ในตำนานวาลีแต่ละสำนวนนั้น สะท้อนร่องรอยของการต่อรองที่จะนับถือศาสนาแตกต่างกันในภูมิภาคนี้เมื่อครั้งอดีต 3) ในตำนานวาลี เมื่อวิเคราะห์ความในใจของบรรพชน โดยถอดรหัส orchestra score ตามหลักของ Lévi-Strauss เราจะพบการปฏิสังสรรค์ทางสังคม ทั้งการเห็นด้วย เห็นต่าง และขัดแย้งก่อนจะยอมรับศาสนาใหม่ 4) พิธีกรรมและความศรัทธาต่อวาลีทั้งชาวบ้านไทยพุทธและมุสลิม ชี้อัตลักษณ์ของบางท้องถิ่น 3 จังหวัดชายแดนใต้ในชนบท ว่ามีการผสมผสานระหว่างความเชื่อดั้งเดิมกับศาสนาอิสลาม

Abstract

          After the thorough study on the “myth and rites of Walee in the community of three southern border provinces: resistance and integration of old idealism and Islam”, four significant findings are brought to light. 1) The four versions of myth indicate that the ancient people living in the areas were those who worshipped gods or old idealism and those who had just converted to Islam. 2) The inversion and paradigm of polar opposite in each version of Walee reflects the resistance to believing in different religions in these regions in the past. 3) By using Lévi-Strauss’ orchestra score to analyze the ancient people’s messages in Walee, social interactions are discovered through agreements, disagreements, and conflicts before they accepted a new religion. 4) Rites and worshiping Walee performed by Buddhists and Muslims reflect identities of the rural areas in the three southern border provinces in that there has been the integration of old idealism and Islam.
