Role of a Thai Politician's Wife

Abstract

In this research investigation, the researcher aims to study 1) the history, development, and concept of the role of a politician's wife 2) the fundamental factors affecting the role of a Thai politician's wife. 3) the wife’s role of a politician who held political office during the year 2014-2019. This research is a qualitative research using  document review and in-depth interview.

Findings showed that 1) the history, development, and the concept of the role of a Thai politician's wife have changed depending on the Thai social context. 2) Fundamental factors affecting the role of a Thai politician's wife are factors that promote the role of politician’s wife such as education, family, and influencers, yet factors that hinder the role of Thai politician’s wife are cultural factors such as traditions, beliefs, values, lifestyles, and attitudes. 3) the wife’s role of a politician who held political office during the year 2014-2019 includes the role in private areas such as taking care of family members, consulting, and providing information support as well as caring for the husband image. The role in public space includes participating in the husband‘s election campaign, helping people in the community, helping in social organizations, and earing money to support the family.
