Work-Life Balance from Work from Home of the Employees in a Private Company

Abstract

The research aimed to (1) study the work-life balance of work-from-home employees in a private company and (2) find out the guidelines for developing work-life balance from work from home of the employees in a private company. A qualitative methodology was selected in this case study. The data were collected through in-depth interviews. The purposive sample techniques were applied to select ten employees in a private company.


            The results revealed that (1) employees could allocate flexible time for work and other activities. They were divided into a group that prioritized work over personal activities and a group that prioritized personal activities over work. (2) In terms of participation, it was found that employees participating in teamwork and corporate activities online could work and participate in activities anytime; however, their relationships among their teams decreased. (3) Employees were satisfied with their performance. Jobs were more efficient and produced more quantities than in the workplace; however, work from home may take time to resolve. ((4) Employees had the guidelines for improving work-life balance by scheduling precise work schedules, increasing team communication, self-development, and job value creation. (5) The organization should have promoted the policy performance appraisal consistent with the work-from-home style, employee care, and management's direct communication.
