Factors Driving of Change of the Mode of Production among the Agrarian Communities around the Industrial Zone of Nam Phong District, Khon Kaen Province

Abstract
This research article studied and analyzed factors driving the change in the Mode of Production among the agrarian communities around the industrial zone of Nam Phong District, Khon Kaen Province. Secondary data collection and qualitative research methodology were implemented in the study. In-depth interviews and focus group discussions were also employed to collect data from 40 key informants. The research results found that two driving factors were identified. The first one was the factors inside the community which consisted of 1) land ownership and water source access, 2) land use changes, 3) deterioration of agricultural resources, 4) labor status in the agricultural sector, and 5) expansion of urban-lifestyle consumption. The second one was the factors outside the community which consisted of 1) the occurrence of the state’s large-scale water source development project, 2) the establishment of manufacturing factories in agricultural areas, 3) influences of field crops promotion and contract farming, 4) technology and agricultural machines, and 5) climate change.
