บทคัดย่อ
งานวิจัยเชิงสำรวจนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาการใช้วิธีการสอนภาษาแบบ เน้นศัพท์ (Lexical Approach) โดยผู้สอนภาษาอังกฤษในฐานะภาษาต่างประเทศ ชาวไทยในมหาวิทยาลัยของรัฐในภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือตอนบนของประเทศไทย เพื่อตอบคำถามการวิจัยว่าผู้สอนภาษาอังกฤษมีการใช้วิธีการสอนภาษาแบบเน้นศัพท์หรือไม่ ถ้ามีการใช้จริง มีการใช้ในระดับใด กลุ่มตัวอย่างคืออาจารย์ผู้สอนภาษาอังกฤษชาวไทยจำนวน 140 คน ซึ่งเลือกมาโดยการสุ่มตามสะดวก จากมหาวิทยาลัยของรัฐ 9 แห่ง ใน 8 จังหวัดในภาคตะวันออกเฉียงเหนือตอนบนของประเทศไทย เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการรวบรวมข้อมูลได้แก่แบบสอบถามแบบปลายปิดชนิดประมาณค่า 4 ระดับ ซึ่งทำการวิเคราะห์เพื่อหาค่าสถิติเชิงพรรณนาโดยใช้โปรแกรมสำเร็จรูป SPSS ผลการวิจัยพบว่าผู้สอนภาษาอังกฤษระดับมหาวิทยาลัยชาวไทยได้ใช้วิธีการสอนภาษาแบบเน้นศัพท์จริง แต่เป็นการใช้ในระดับปานกลาง มีการอภิปรายผลในส่วนที่เกี่ยวกับการใช้วิธีการสอนภาษาแบบเน้นศัพท์ในแง่ที่ว่าเป็นสิ่งที่ใช้เวลามาก และเป็นภาระที่หนัก แสดงถึงว่าวิธีการสอนนี้อยู่ในระดับเกือบเป็นที่นิยม มีข้อเสนอแนะเพื่อการนำไปใช้ในการสอนภาษาอังกฤษในชั้นเรียนและสำหรับการวิจัยเพิ่มเติม
