The Khon Wisdom’s Tranmission and Learning Process

Abstract

The objective of this study is to study the learning and transmission process of Khon wisdom from 13 Khon masters or experts in Khon of Fine ArtsDepartment, local Khon, and applied Khon. The research instruments included a semi-structured interview with the content validity assessment verified by 5 experts at the confidence value between0.6 – 0.8. It was found that the transmission and learning process of Khon wisdom to contemporary performing arts could be divided into two groups, which were 1) Khon in the formal education and 2) Khon in the non-formal education. The learning process of Khon masters was divided into seven issues, which were 1) perspectives on Khon wisdom, 2) the motivation of learners, 3) teaching styles, 4) masters’ characteristics, 5) teaching and learning atmosphere, 6) the capability of learners, and 7) methods for transmitting Khon wisdom. The method for transmitting Khon wisdom could be divided into six features as follows: 1) perspectives on instructional management and on current students, 2) the masters’ points of view on themselves, 3) principles and methods for transmitting Khon wisdom, 4) environment and learning media, 5) problems and obstacles to transmitting knowledge and solving problems, and 6) suggestions for wisdom transmission.
