Factors Influencing Students' Decision-Making in the Election of Student Council Members at Kalasin University, Namon Campus, 2022

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to study the level of factors influencing students' decisions in the Kalasin University Student Council election in the Namon area. The research population consists of 2,360 undergraduate students, spanning first- to fourth-year levels at Kalasin University, Namon. This research uses a quantative approach. The sample group consistend of 342 students and was selected through accidental random sampling. Data were collected via self-administered questionnaires using Google Forms. Statistical analysis included frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation. The research findings were as follows: the majority of respondents were female (231 students, or 66%), between 18 and 24 years old (312 students, or 89.14%), studying in the Faculty of Liberal Arts (143 students, or 40.86%), and second-year students (168 students, or 48%). Overall, the factors influencing the election were moderate (mean = 3.16). Considering each aspect, it was found that the policy was the highest level (mean = 3.17). The policy should be reliable, clear, and beneficial to students and the institution. Suggestions include focusing on campaign tactics, election advertising, using social media for campaigning, connecting directly with students to obtain feedback, and creating an online voting system.
