The participation of people in preventing and solving drug problems in Ban Na Bon, Village No. 11, Na Bon Subdistrict, Kam Muang District, Kalasin Province.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the level of community involvement in drug prevention and mitigation efforts at Ban Nabon, Village No. 11, Nabon Sub-district, Kam Muang District, Kalasin Province, Thailand. The study population comprised of 666 residents, from which a sample of 250 individuals was selected using Taro Yamane's formula. Data were collected via questionnaires and standard deviations were applied for analysis. The results indicated that 134 respondents (53.6%) were female, with the majority aged between 21 and 30 years (23.6%). The most prevalent occupation was agriculture (20.0%), and the highest educational level attained was lower secondary education (23.6%). Overall, the level of community participation in drug problem prevention and mitigation was very high, with an average score ( = 4.71). The highest level of engagement was in refusal participation, averaging ( = 4.87), followed by avoidance ( = 4.84), self-protection (= 4.66), and immunity ( = 4.47). The problems and obstacles faced by the public in preventing and addressing drug issues, as indicated by the analysis showing the lowest average participation in the aspect of immunity ( = 4.47). The primary issue identified in the prevention and resolution of drug-related problems was in the area of immunity building. Recommendations suggest that community leaders and relevant stakeholders should intensify drug prevention and suppression activities, while families are encouraged to participate in shared activities during free time to strengthen community ties and resilience.
