Estimating Stature From Middle Finger Length in Thai Population

Abstract
This research aimed to investigate the correlation between stature and middle finger length and create a regression equation to estimate the stature from the length of the middle finger in the Thai population. Data on stature and the middle finger length were collected from a sample group of 200 police cadets aged 20 to 29 years (100 males and 100 females). The results showed that the length of both middle fingers and stature were correlated with a statistically significant level of 0.01 with males, females, and both genders and were able to create a regression equation to estimate a person’s stature. The results showed that the right and left middle finger length of males could be used to estimate stature with a statistically significant level of 0.01, which predicted 27.1%, and 30.5%, respectively. The right and left middle finger length of females can be used to estimate stature with a statistically significant level of 0.01 which predicted 16.0% and 14.2 %, respectively. The length of the right and left middle fingers in both genders can be used to estimate stature with a statistically significant level of 0.01, which predicted 37.0% and 40.3%, respectively.
