Abstract

The purposes of this research were to study and develop work standards on forensic medicine in the hospital and other recommendations. This research used a qualitative approach. An in-depth interview collected data from forensic medicine staff of the Office of Police Forensic Science and Forensic Science Institute of the Ministry of Justice, including administrators, operators, and technical doctors who have more experience in forensic medicine in the hospital than ten years. The research result showed that the obstacles for a clerical worker nowadays are not enough, affecting workload problems. Moreover, some workers were on fieldwork which made them work with too much workload. In addition, the organization's policy decreased the number of government officers with the annual government statement of limited expenditure demand that made the organization lack expertise. Therefore, forensic medicine is essential to the hospital, and being aware of the quality standard of forensic medicine contributes to applying and maintaining the quality standard in any region. However, to support an increase in forensic medicine, the duty of the related organizations should train all staff with more knowledge and understanding of forensic medicine exceptionally efficiently. The recommendation for this research is 1) should have a training project on forensic medicine. Evidence investigation at the crime scene can be applied with extreme efficiency. 2) According to the organization's policy on decreasing the number of government officers with the annual government statement of limited expenditure demand, the organization lacks expert staff. So that should add more forensic medicine staff to support their responsibility.
