The Persistence of Personnel of Anti-Terrorism Unit “Arintaraj 26”

Abstract

           The objectives of this research were to (1) study the mission of Domestic and International Anti-Terrorist Unit (2) study the reason of reshuffle and resignation of the Domestic Anti-Terrorist Unit and (3) identify the employee retention guidelines of the Domestic Anti-Terrorist Unit.Qualitative research methods were employed in this study using semi-structured interview as research instruments. Data collection from target population was obtained from non-commissioned police officer, commissioned police officer and commander which were divided into three groups including the person who used to work in Anti-Terrorist Unit (Arintaraj 26) and has been reshuffled, the person who still working in Anti-Terrorist Unit (Arintaraj 26), the supreme commander of Anti-Terrorist Unit from Royal Thai Navy and Royal Thai Air Force.The study used the purposive samplings target population size of 26.


            The results showed that the Domestic and International Anti-Terrorist Unit are both exhibited high competence resulting from the training hard. To complete the risk mission, experienced and skillful officers are essential. It was found that the motivation factors behind reshuffles in Anti-Terrorist Unit (Arintaraj 26) are internal promotion systems and political influence. The maintenance factors affectd employee retention in Anti-Terrorist Units (Arintaraj 26) are compensation, welfare, extra money and relationship between commander.


            Recommendations from this research are (1) personnel compensation providing in for personnel special force unit should be adjusted (2) clear scope of the promotion between non-commissioned officer and commissioned officer opportunities in career path should be determined (3) manpower planning in unit for  risk reduction on lacking of personnel Anti-Terrorism should be established (4) budget for domestic and international training to increase the personnel capability in the unit should be supported.
