The Relationship between Art and Gender
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article is composed of three parts. It starts by discussing the societal context that influences gender roles and the existence of diverse sexual orientations. It places a particular emphasis on Thai society, which aligns with European and American societies, through the section titled Gender Roles and Gender Diversity in Thai Society, in Brief. The second section explains the meaning of the term ‘queer art’ or art that addresses various gender-related issues and different themes within creative works that adapt to shifts in politics and culture, affecting the lives of people with diverse sexual orientations, all under the section titled Art and Gender Diversity. The third section consists of examples of artworks with content related to gender diversity from both Thai and international artists, presented under the section titled Examples of Queer Art.
