RESULTS OF USING KAAP-CHABANG-16 BILINGUAL TALE SETS IN MONTESSORI CLASS TO IMPROVE MORALS AND ETHICS FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD CHILDREN

Abstract

This research aims to (i) Study morals and ethics of early childhood children in a Montessori classroom. (ii) Study development of morals and ethics of early childhood children in a Montessori classroom before and after using Kaap-Chabang-16 bilingual tale sets. The sample of this research comprises of 27 early childhood children – both male and female children - enrolled in a Montessori classroom during the second semester of the 2022 at Sunthorn Wattana School. Additionally, purposive sampling method is used for sample selection.

There are 3 instruments used under this research as follows; (i) 8 stories of Kaap-Chabang-16 Bilingual Tale to Improve Morals and Ethics of Early Childhood Children in Montessori Class (ii) 8 sets of manuals and storytelling plans of Kaap-Chabang-16 Bilingual Tale to Improve Morals and Ethics of Early Childhood Children in Montessori Class (iii) 8 behavioral evaluation forms, to evaluate 8 morals and 8 ethics of childhood children in Montessori class. The statistical methods used under this research include mean, standard deviation, and relative gain scores.

The result shows that (i) Morals and ethics of early childhood children has been improved after applying Kaap-Chabang-16 bilingual tale sets. In addition, early childhood children demonstrated higher ethical and moral behavior (= 2.54, SD = 0.09). (ii) In terms of morals and ethics development, the evaluation forms (full-score was 171 points per person) show that moral and ethics scores of early childhood children before applying Kaap-Chabang-16 bilingual tale sets was at 2,809 points with a mean of 104.04. However, after applying Kaap-Chabang-16 bilingual tale sets, their scores increased to 3,896 points with a mean of 144.30. Overall, early childhood children achieved a percentage of development at 60.12, which is considered high.
